Looking for something different? I am in love with using our vinegar as the liquid component for icing as it adds a delicious tang that offsets the sweetness of the sugar! I owe credit to @itsholly for making it first with our hibiscus vinegar!

If we’re just baking for ourselves at home we usually use coconut sugar or sucanat. Just make sure you grind them fine otherwise it will be quite gritty. The color is significantly darker but adds so much yummy caramel flavor— if that works with whatever you’re making!

“We measure vanilla with our hearts”

Holly Haines @itsholly

I love this quote so freaking much! I hate measuring things and this mentality is so freeing! Also; FYI, vanilla paste is the absolute bomb compared to vanilla extract. You need to get some- ASAP.

If we’re just baking for ourselves at home we usually use coconut sugar or sucanant. Just make sure you grind them fine otherwise it will be quite gritty. The color is significantly darker but adds so much yummy caramel flavor— if that works with whatever your’re making!

  • Total Time: 7
  • Yield: 1.5 cups 1x

Ingredients

Units Scale

3.5 oz powdered sugar

1 tbsp Orange Zest

1 oz Cream Cheese

4 tea Corn Starch

2 tbsp Orange Vinegar

1/2 tea Vanilla Extract or Dab of Vanilla Bean Paste

Instructions

  1. Mix all sugar, cream cheese, corn starch, and zest together.
  2. Whisk in Orange Vinegar
  3. Drizzle over scones, bundt cakes, cookies, muffins, whatever you want to make a little extra special!

Notes

We did use ground coconut sugar in this video, which contributed to the darker color. We also recommend using sucanant as a sugar option.

For a piping bag; ziploc bag with tip cut off works, as well as small measuring cup with a pouring tip.
